Born 1934. Graduated from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. 1959 Had Govt. of Jugoslavia scholarship for
higher education in sculpture and bronze casting. Head of the Deptt. and later principal of the Indian Art College.

Benaras Hindu University. Represented Indian International students meet organized by the UNSECO at Dubrovnik and
Lubjana, Jugoslavia. Participants and member of the delegation to London for the Exhibition of Trends in Bengal Art

London and crafts council of West Bengal, Kolkata.Formerly secretary Calcutta Painters, executive members of all India Sculpture Forum, member of Board of Studies, Calcutta University, Benaras Hindu University, Viswabharati University. Commissioned for casting the sculptures of Ramkinkar Baij includes Madhuban Narayan Foundation. Honoured with “Shiromoni Puraskar” – Asian Paints, “Abanindra Puraskar” -Government of West Bengal. ![]() Shankar Ghosh. Born in 1934. Shankar Ghosh commenced his formal artist training in 1951, at the Indian Art College and thereafter continued
at the Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta from 1952 to 1957. Shankar Ghosh’s work has been commended for their
aesthetic designs and each creation is imbued with an ethereal quality. His sculptures are inspired by various facets of
his environment, the human from and different types of shapes. The sculptures are usually small and very personalized. He
feels his sculptures take him into an imaginary realm, where all the encounters are one to one interactions with these
art forms, far beyond the materialistic world and the realities of daily existence. While creating these masterpieces,
moulding them, erecting them and placing them on a pedestal what he experiences is sheer exhibition. Because of their
uniqueness, Shankar Ghosh’s sculptures have added stature to the private collection of many an art connoisseur.

Tapas Sarkar. Born 1952. Graduated from Govt College of Art, Kolkata in 1975. Presently a full-fledged sculptor with
13 solo and 7 joint exhibitions in Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Santiniketan. Founder member of
‘Calcutta Sculptors’. Senior fellowship from Govt of India, Dept. of H.R.Awarded Merit Scholarship and 5 other awards from
various Government & Private Organisations. Made an Cultural & Educational trip to France, UK & Germany. Delivered talk on
‘Indian Sculptures: The Contemporary Scene’ in Berlin sponsored by ICCR. Constructed giant metal sculptures ranging from
30 feet to 54 feet in places of importance for NTPC, SAIL, IFFCO and for other organization.
