Amit Choudhuri Amit was born in Calcutta in 1962. He was brought up in Bombay
and graduated from London. He became Creative Arts Fellow at Wolfson
College, Oxford. His first book "A Strange and Sublime Address"
won the first prize in the Betty Trask Awards, which is the Commonwealth writers
prize for Best First Book in 1992. His "Afternoon Raag" won the
1993 Southern Arts Literature Prize and the Encore Award for best second
novel. He wrote poetry, fiction and his work was published in many
publications including The London Review of Books, The London Magazine and The Oxford Companion to Twentieth Nov 2000
