Subir Chowdhury Renowned business author, quality strategist, ASI Executive VP Subir Chowdhury is a world renowned, award-winning author and consultant in the quality management field. His first book on quality management, QS-9000 Pioneers, was declared the most highly endorsed book on quality management and is a helpful tool to the automotive industry worldwide in implementing an effective quality system. His recent book Management 21C: Someday We’ll All Manage This Way is the lead business title of Financial Times. This book was voted the Best Business Book of 1999 by Amazon.com, edging out a certain Mr. Bill Gates and his Business@speedofthought. Subir was brought up in Chittagang, Bangladesh. He got admitted into Medical College, Chittagang, but discontinued (as this was not exactly his line) and joined IIT, Kharagpur with specialization in the field of Aerospace Engineering. Came to USA and obtained a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering. Subir always was a student of a different kind. When he took steps to publish a Bengali magazine in IIT, Kharagpur, he was not taken seriously by the administration. But he got into touch with famous Bengali literary personalities and started publishing "Panchajanya" ( the name was selected by Sagarmoy Ghosh) and got patronage from writers like Sunil Ganguly. Subir was always ready to take challenges and leadership was built in him. Now he is Executive Vice President at the American Supplier Institute. Prior to his present position, he served as a quality management consultant at General Motors Corporation. Mr. Chowdhury is a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Statistical Society, London. He is the Chairman of the American Society for Quality – Automotive Division. He is also a FELLOW of the Quality Society of Australasia. Subir was also the Editor-in-Chief of Automotive Excellence – the world’s leading magazine on issues related to quality in the automotive industry. Mr. Chowdhury was honored by the prestigious Automotive Hall of Fame and has received numerous international awards for his leadership in quality management and major contributions to the automotive industry. The Society of Automotive Engineers awarded him its most prestigious recognition, the Henry Ford II Distinguished Award for Excellence. He also received the honorable U.S. Congressional Recognition from the United States Congress and Certificate of Commendation from the Honorable Governor of the State of Michigan. Mr. Chowdhury was featured on the famed Voice of America (VOA) in Washington DC which reaches 120 million people in more than 50 countries worldwide. Success could not stop Subir to look back to his roots. Subir has decided to do something for the blind and destitute of Calcutta, like, donate the royalty money from his books sold in India to some blind students in Calcutta.
