NRI Profile
Vanu Bose Does the last name sound familiar?. Yes, you guessed it right. Vanu Bose is the son of world famous Amar Bose of Bose Corporation. Following his father's entrepreneurial instincts, Vanu Bose started a high-tech startup called Vanu Inc. Vanu Inc. specializes in a futuristic new technology called Software Radio that Vanu Bose worked on during his Phd. at MIT. This technology is not expected to reach the consumers for at least the next four years. Vanu Bose grew up in the intellectual corridor of Boston, Massachusetts and he did his Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. from MIT. Though he initially thought he would be an academician, he quickly realized the commercial viability of his research and decided to start his own company. However, there was a dispute over the patent for the software radio technology and this nearly killed his dreams. But things worked out over time and Vanu Bose and MIT agreed upon a reasonable and modest terms. A Software Radio is a wireless communications device which performs all of its signal processing in portable application level software. Since all of the processing is performed in software, a single communications device can potentially be used for many purposes, simply by running a different program. For example, one device can be re-programmed to be an analog cellular phone, a digital phone, a cordless home phone or even a garage door opener or baby monitor. If this technology pays off, Vanu Inc. will be the leader in this field. Currently, Vanu. Inc. has 23 full and part-time employees with several major contracts and no debt.
