Raja’s poetry with photography
The show Ganer Feriwala earned Raja fame for his songs in the earlier period of the last decade. A singer-poet by profession, his renditions of songs and poetry has captured public imagination.
Recently he released his new album called “Opar Mita”. This singer confesses that whenever he has recited poems of other poets he has considered the poems to be his own and has poured all his emotions in portraying the inner meaning. Raja read 14 poems that night with his characteristic heartfelt expressions. Poems from the poets of all ages – Nirendranath Chakravorthy, Sunil Gangopadhay, Sakti Chattopadhay, Kabir Suman, Rahul Roy, Arindam Chakravorthy. An exhibition of photographs by photographers of 3rd Eye Association also made the evening a memorable one. Bengali culture clan having seen and heard interactions of paintings and poems, a new collaboration like this was unheard of. The two components sometimes dichotomous nevertheless was an enjoyable one. Luminaries present at the meeting like Bratati Bandopadhay, Urmimala Basu, Subodh Sarkar, Joy Sorkar heaped praise on the man of the evening. The album under the label of Orion Entertainment has hit the stands on 19th April.
