
Ronojoy Dutta
Rono J Dutta is the president of United Airlines, world’s largest airline. UAL employs around 100000 people, has a network covering about 130 cities and on an average they carry 238000 passengers per day. Dutta spent his boyhood in Shillong and then in Calcutta. He graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering. He went to Harvard and earned an MBA in 1980.
Prior to joining UAL he worked at management consulting firm Booz-Allen & Hamilton at Chicago. Mr Dutta, prior to joining United and after his stint with Booz- Allen, was manager of planning for Bell & Howell in Chicago from 1984-85. He joined UAL in 1985. Since then, Dutta has held a variety of management positions within UAL, including vice president-Financial Planning and Analysis; vice president-Base Operations; and senior vice president-Maintenance Operations at the company’s Maintenance Operations Center in San Francisco. . He has also served as vice president-Management Information Systems, vice president-Shuttle by United Development and vice president-Cargo. He and his wife reside in Wilmette, near Chicago, with their three children.
